World Series Game 7 Draws 51 Million Audience Members In the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended contest where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American average was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase over last year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
