News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, as the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This marks the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
