Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt prepared to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, commenting that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Following the deaths, public figures offered different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial claims that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an adviser ought to have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
