A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serve.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
