Barça to Host First Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a public practice at the Camp Nou in early November. The club said they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
